Description: On July 10, 1947, Edgar Dickey and his son Jack embarked on a journey, a dream of Edgar's, to start a machine shop with his son Jack. Both Ed and Jack, being expert lathe operators, had an advantage of giving customers a quality product at a reasonable price. Over the next 50 years, price and quality was always a priority. They first started their company in the garage behind Ed's house. Working day jobs at other shops, they worked late into the evening in their garage, a hard and tedious beginning. But with the right philosophy in mind, it wasn't hard to find work for the machine shop. After a few years, they relocated to a small building a few miles away. Jack continued to work hard, and, after a few more years of growing, was ready to expand into a new location and take Dickey & Son to a new level. Moving to 9th St. and Sherman Drive was a big step for a conservative person like Jack. But after making that decision, he never looked back. There were many good years, and some not so good, but through it all the company continued to prosper. After many years of watching Jack build this company, I was convinced I wanted to be a part of its history. So, after going to school, I embarked on a level of learning I never dreamed of. For years, my father taught me, Jack Jr., everything he could on how to successfully run a company. With the help of many good people who surrounded me, I decided in 1996 to take Dickey & Son to yet another level. At our new location, we have moved from 30,000 sq. ft. to a new 60,000 sq. ft. facility. I am proud to say that everything is going well. We are all very excited with all the space we have to grow in. But most of all I am proud to have a son Jack III, working with me, and who will some day take Dickey & Son to yet even another level.
